Digital Incidental Learning Program

This innovative approach combines the expertise of teachers and industry professionals to lead participants through digital learning and animation. Aligned with the Competency-Based (CB) curriculum, aimed at preparing students for success in a rapidly evolving world, the program emphasizes student-centered teaching and practical experiences. The CB curriculum fosters three key mindsets: self-learning, self-efficiency, and digital literacy while focusing on the development of four essential skills: communication, critical thinking, citizenship, and creativity. For participants, this initiative represents their first exposure to computers. Through our Digital Incidental Learning Program (DILP), we aim to equip them with foundational skills necessary for navigating the contemporary world. By integrating DILP into the existing curriculum, students will experience numerous benefits, enhancing their overall learning journey and personal growth. Incorporating storytelling, poetry and animation into the Digital Incidental Learning Program (DILP), students will have the opportunity to create and share authentic stories inspired by their environment. This aspect of the program not only fosters creativity but also allows students to learn from various Kenyan and African authors, drawing from the rich tradition of storytelling and poetry. By exploring the works of these esteemed authors, students gain insight into the art of storytelling—a cherished African tradition—as well as poetry, expanding their literary horizons and enhancing their communication skills. Through animation, students can bring their stories to life, adding a visual dimension to their narratives and further enriching their learning experience. This holistic approach to digital learning not only empowers students to express themselves creatively but also cultivates a deeper appreciation for their cultural heritage and the power of storytelling in conveying meaningful messages.
